Cities walk the talk

At a crucial time for European climate policy, 200 European cities and regions are backing a call for action supporting more ambitious and binding climate and energy targets, ensuring that future generations are safeguarded against the worst effects of climate change. Spearheaded by ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability and WWF, the call is timely and directed towards the European Union, which is engaged in discussions regarding the EU 2030 Climate and Energy Package. On Wednesday 15 January 2014 the European Parliament votes on an EU Resolution on Wildlife Crime.

WWF and TRAFFIC strongly support the spirit of this initiative, led by MEP Gerben-Jan Gerbrandy, and call on all the Members of the European Parliament to ensure the EU adopts a strong resolution against illicit wildlife trafficking.

On 3 December Duncan Williamson - WWF Food Policy Manager – addressed a select group of MEPs at the inaugural meeting of the ‘Sustainable Food Steering Group’.

At the end of the conference, Mr Edward McMillan-Scott, Member of the European Parliament, addressed WWF commenting on the EU spending on food production, which is not always "on the right direction".
