Euro-Toques chef cooks LiveWell plate at the European Parliament

From October until December 2014 LiveWell for LIFE and Euro-Toques, the EU's chef's association, will be in the restaurants of the European Parliament for a series of cooking demonstrations on healthy and sustainable diets. The first event took place on 1st October, and the next will be on 18 November and 2nd December.

Cities walk the talk




At a crucial time for European climate policy, 200 European cities and regions are backing a call for action supporting more ambitious and binding climate and energy targets, ensuring that future generations are safeguarded against the worst effects of climate change. Spearheaded by ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability and WWF, the call is timely and directed towards the European Union, which is engaged in discussions regarding the EU 2030 Climate and Energy Package. SOS! EU Climate Action lost at sea


On Wednesday 22 January the European Commission released a White Paper with its proposal for 2030 EU climate and energy policy. Leading NGOs staged a cry for HELP! from EU Heads of State and Government to put EU climate ambition back on track with what its citizens - and science - are calling for.

On Wednesday 15 January 2014 the European Parliament votes on an EU Resolution on Wildlife Crime.

WWF and TRAFFIC strongly support the spirit of this initiative, led by MEP Gerben-Jan Gerbrandy, and call on all the Members of the European Parliament to ensure the EU adopts a strong resolution against illicit wildlife trafficking.

On 3 December Duncan Williamson - WWF Food Policy Manager – addressed a select group of MEPs at the inaugural meeting of the ‘Sustainable Food Steering Group’.
 



At the end of the conference, Mr Edward McMillan-Scott, Member of the European Parliament, addressed WWF commenting on the EU spending on food production, which is not always "on the right direction".

WWF and the Indian NGO Barefoot College have started working with women from the poorest communities in rural Africa to train them to become solar engineers and develop clean sustainable energy systems that improve livelihood, security and education for their communities while protecting the pristine environment in which they live.
