Climate change is a financial risk. However, the transition to a low carbon economy also offers significant investment opportunities.

WWF has published a range of guides for asset owners, containing recommendations on how they can address climate-related risks and opportunities – and align their investment portfolios with the Paris Agreement. These include:
  • 15 topline recommendations on climate change, which summarise the more detailed versions from the full WWF Climate Guide to Asset Owners.
  • Sectoral recommendations on how asset owners can address coal mining companies and electric power companies that own coal plants.
The recommendations to asset owners can be grouped into three categories:
  • learning and seeking advice
  • decision-making
  • monitoring service providers and engaging with key stakeholders
Aiming to align investments with the Paris Agreement on climate change – by taking action in line with the recommendations in these guides – will help promote the best interests of those whose money is invested and beneficiaries, as per  asset owners’ investor obligations.
