Need for strong action on sustainable food consumption - open letter

Posted on 11 July 2023

Together with a coalition of civil society organisations, WWF has issued an open letter urging the Commission to support policies that will help consumers and farmers transition to sustainable food systems.

Endorsed by organisations working on environmental issues, organic agriculture, consumer rights, public health and animal welfare, the letter outlines four different policy areas that the Commission should strengthen as soon as possible.

The EU has committed to driving an EU-wide transition to sustainable food systems, covering the full supply chain, from production to consumption.  As Europe braces for another summer of extreme heat and drought, making our food system sustainable and resilient is an existential imperative.
