The new EU regional programme for Latin America & the Caribbean - NGO recommendations

Recommendations submitted by global environmental organisations with offices and partners in the Latin American and Caribbean region, to the EU consultation on the new regional programme for the Latin America and Caribbean
In response to theEU consultation onthe new regional multi-annual indicative programme for Latin America and theCaribbean, this paper lays out therecommendations of WWF, Conservation International, Traffic, International Fund for Animal Welfare, Observatorio Pantanal and Wetlands International forthe environment, biodiversity and climate regional initiatives in theEU Latin America and the Caribbean regional Multi-annual Indicative Plan (MIP) forthe period 2021 - 2027 with the objective to deliver onthe ambitions of the European Green Deal in the NDICI - Global Europe.
Therecommendations in this paper seek to assist theEU in its consultation processes with Civil Society Organizations, highlighting key opportunities fortheEU to support actions that halt and reverse the loss of nature while promoting sustainable development across theLAC region.
A second paper was prepared by WWF Amazon regional office and contains recommendationsonthe proposed Team Europe Initiative forthe Amazon region, covering recommendationson integrating sustainable development with biodiversity and climate action across the region and reinforcing the Leticia Pact, an agreement of seven Amazonian countries signed in 2019 intended to protect the rainforest by expanding regional cooperation.
