WWF position: the EU's long-term climate strategy

The EU should aim for zero net emissions by 2040

Climate change is a challenge unprecedented in human history. To tackle it, action on an unprecedented scale is needed.

With this in mind, WWF believes that the EU’s new long-term climate strategy should aim for the EU as a bloc to reach zero net emissions domestically by 2040.

This position paper sets out what the EU must do to reach that target, and why it is so crucial.
