Civil society position statement on the EU deforestation law

The European Commission's proposal must be strengthened to meet the EU's biodiversity and climate targets.
Over 100 civil society organisations from Europe and beyond are calling on the European Parliament and EU Member States to close the loopholes in the proposed European Commission’s regulation to tackle EU-driven global deforestation.
Supported by environmental, climate and human rights organisations, this statement outlines key policy asks that must be addressed in the proposed law to ensure that the EU regulation is truly fit for purpose and meets the high expectations of EU citizens.
