WWF EU 2022 Annual Review

Posted on February, 10 2023

It is our pleasure to share with you the WWF European Policy Office’s Annual Review for 2022.
The ramifications of the global pandemic, a violent war in Europe, the energy and cost of living crises, droughts and wildfires - 2022 was a tumultuous year during which environmental and geopolitical challenges were omnipresent. The impact of our planetary emergency has been felt far and wide.

By adopting the European Green Deal in 2019, the EU committed to leading the transition towards a climate neutral and nature-positive economy and society. Our planet desperately needs us to deliver on this promise, and keeping the Green Deal high on the agenda was at the core of WWF EU’s work over the past 12 months.

We have also seen progress on some truly transformational laws and initiatives - signs that there is a growing understanding of the key role that nature can (and must) play in overcoming the most pressing societal challenges, from biodiversity loss to climate change.
